Today, US Sens. Carl Levin and Debbie Stabenow, both D-Mich., announced the allotment of just over 1.4 million dollars to the University’s Department of Nursing. The money is part of the 13 million dollars given to select programs in the state to expand training of medical personnel and comes from the passage of the Affordable Care Act six months ago. The money is expected to support 30 to 60 full-time nurse practitioner (NP) and nurse midwife (NMW) students for up to 2 years.
