Gov. Granholm’s spokesperson has announced that the request of a single individual is not enough to trigger activation of the National Guard in Flint. While the governor has yet to see the request sent by former state representative Vera Rison, her spokesperson says that the move would need far more support, such as from the police department before it would be considered. Rison’s most recent request came after Flint police announced that there have been 50 murders in the city in only nine months.
