Supporters push for more coverage for Autism patients

Lansing saw the last in a state-wide series of public hearings pushing for legislation that requires insurance coverage for certain, intense therapies for Autism patients.

Supporters of the expanded coverage are hoping to see the changes approved by the end of the year. Nearly half a dozen states in the United States currently have the legislation in the books.

Some say that Autism should not be singled out as a disorder that will require special attention, while others worry about the mounting costs for mandating the treatments.
