The University of Michigan has confirmed this past Sunday that it has created the first human embryonic stem cell line. It is hoped that the cells like these can one day be used to treat conditions such as Parkinson’s disease and other life-altering illnesses. Scientist were able to do this impart because of a constitutional amendment in 2008 that allowed surplus embryos from fertility clinics to be used in scientific research.
